Israeli Airstrike Leaves Casualties in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) At least 19 individuals lost their lives on Sunday after an Israeli airstrike struck a residential structure in southern Lebanon, according to reports from Lebanese media.

A state-run news agency indicated that warplanes targeted a three-story building in the town of Seir el-Gharbiya, located in the Nabatieh district, resulting in 19 fatalities, primarily among women and children.

Rescue operations are ongoing, the outlet reported, with civil defense and ambulance crews working to clear debris and locate any survivors.

This assault occurred as Israel intensified its military strikes in Lebanon since Monday, following limited rocket attacks by Hezbollah amid wider regional tensions tied to the war initiated by Israel and the US against Iran.

Since October 2023, Israel’s offensive in Lebanon has claimed more than 4,000 lives and injured 17,000 individuals, escalating into a full-scale conflict by September 2024.

Although a ceasefire with Hezbollah has been in place since November 2024, Israel has reportedly carried out near-daily breaches, leaving hundreds killed and injured.
