Israel Allows Searching for Hostage Remains in Areas Under Army Control
An Israeli broadcaster, referencing security sources, stated that Hamas has been collaborating with the Red Cross and Egyptian teams over the past 24 hours to locate the remains of hostages in areas still occupied by the Israeli army, beyond the “yellow line.”
This “yellow line” represents an imaginary boundary separating the regions currently held by Israeli forces in Gaza from those they have already vacated.
The report mentioned that over the weekend, Israel and Hamas shared information about the potential locations of the bodies through intermediaries in an effort to expedite the search process.
On Sunday, Israel confirmed that it had authorized Red Cross and Egyptian teams to go beyond the “yellow line” in Gaza to assist with the recovery of hostage remains.
As part of the initial phase of a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10, Hamas released 20 live Israeli hostages and the bodies of 16 others. The remains of 12 hostages are still believed to be in Gaza.
This ceasefire deal also includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza and the formation of a new governing body, excluding Hamas.
