Iranian President Gets Injured in Israeli Strike
The air assault, which occurred on June 16, allegedly involved six explosive devices aimed at entryways to a covert underground structure located in the western part of Tehran.
At the time of the incident, President Pezeshkian, along with other senior officials, was attending a session of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council at the site.
According to the outlet, the explosions disrupted electricity to the facility, compelling the president to escape via an emergency exit shaft. It was during this escape that he incurred leg injuries.
The outlet asserted that the strike was inspired by the September 2024 air raids in Beirut, which resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The attack took place during a 12-day conflict that concluded with a ceasefire mediated by the United States on June 24.
Throughout this period, Israeli military forces reportedly eliminated multiple high-ranking Iranian officers and nuclear experts.
In a recent interview released last week, Pezeshkian stated that Israel had attempted to assassinate him. Israeli authorities have not issued any public response to the accusation.
